I'm sitting here today remembering my nephew, Nathan. It was
actually about this time in the morning that I was getting the news
that Nathan had died overnight. It was SIDS - Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome. Previously I had only heard of SIDS on TV in shows like
Quincy or on the news. Nathan died in March 1992, it was just
before the American Academy of Pediatrics published their "back to
sleep" campaign starter in April 1992 to reduce the number of SIDS
deaths. Thankfully it has worked for many parents as one of the
ways to reduce the risk factors for SIDS. Do you know what the risk
factors are and what you can do to help prevent SIDS in your
family? Related: SIDS Facts SIDS, Pacifiers & Co-Sleeping

SIDS Prevention Methods - 3 Helpful Tips
One of the most devastating things that any new parent can go
through is the sudden death of their child. Most parents will never
quite recover from such a horrific experience, often blaming
themselves for the loss, despite the fact that many times there is
absolutely nothing the parent could have done to prevent their
infant's death. One of the most common occurrences cited for the
death of an infant is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or more
commonly known as SIDS, which takes the lives of well over 3,000
unfortunate babies per year.
Save on Pregnancy Pillows
Pregnancy pillows are all the rage to help you get comfortable and
sleep well in pregnancy, particularly in those last few months when
insomnia is a real bear. While they sell big pregnancy pillows and
small pregnancy pillows, pregnancy pillows that encircle you and
pregnancy pillows that you lay on, the truth is - you don't need a
pregnancy pillow. That said, I think that pillows to help you sleep
are a huge benefit. You can simply choose to use more of your
normal bed pillows creatively or you can use a standard body
pillow. The truth is, many of these pillows are exactly the same,
minus the jacked up price for the word pregnancy tucked in the
front. Related: When sleeping on your back is a problem in

Reducing the Herpes Rates at Term
Herpes is a very common sexually transmitted disease (STD). There
are risk factors that can make it risky for pregnant women,
particularly if they have their first or initial outbreak near term
or the end of their pregnancy. There is research that indicates an
effective way to reduce not only the number of cases of genital
herpes at term, but the number of cesareans done for genital herpes
at term. Read how to reap this benefit... Related: Chlamydia Yeast

Something We Never Want To Think About...
I'm not quite sure how the planets are aligning this week. My job
is typically a very happy one, even though it may seem against the
grain that I'm dealing with breastfeeding problems, because (in the
majority of cases) the issues are solved. Â However,
this week was an anomaly...within a 24 hour period, I had two phone
calls from a client of mine, not to discuss anything about her own
breastfeeding concerns. Â The first call was
yesterday--a friend of hers had just lost her 7-week-old baby to
SIDS; the second call came today--her sister-in-law, due this
Thursday with her second baby, found out this morning that there
was no heartbeat. Â Just devastated, feeling absolutely
helpless, she called me to ask advice about how to help them on the
breastfeeding front. Â The mom with the 7-week-old...
